Airfare Arrangements |
||||||||||
| Flight Selection Methods: We have researched the current fares with several of the airlines. The way we select our flights is by establishing the dates of travel and then consulting Expedia, Travelocity, American Airlines, and Delta.AirTran was consulted for the Atlanta trip. Categorically, flights seem to be $50-$150 higher than this time last year. Airlines will run specials at different times of the year. If you have the flexibility to take your time and change planes, etc. some money can be saved by flying Southwest. Also worth considering is driving to some of the tournaments. Denver is roughly 12 hours away and Kansa City is an 8 hour drive. | ||||||||||
| Travel Dates: You will want to be at each destination the day before the event. Typically, we will not know until the week before the event whether you start time is 8:00am or 2:00pm. Even if it is posted that it is afternoon starting time, the Tournament Directors always say that they can change the start time up until the day before the event. If you can afford the time to get in during the day prior the event, this may be the best time to do any sightseeing. Once the event starts, the kids will be either playing, eating, or resting. | ||||||||||
| Travel Times: Listed below are the general times that most of our coaches are flying in and out of the various tournaments. The times will vary as our coaches all have different work schedules and obstacles. They will be arriving at various times throughout the afternoon and evening. Since they are already taking a day off for the tournament, they generally prefer to fly to the destination city later in evening so they can be at work as long as possible. As far as time of departure, the coaches will generally be booked on flights that leave 6:30p or later. The tournaments publish that the latest matches are scheduled to start at 2:00p with their respective completions at around 4:00p. If you've been around club ball for a few years ar know people who have, they will almost all have at least one story of a missed flight or a near-miss at a qualifier if their flight was scheduled for 4:00p or so. Remember to allow time to travel to the airport, turn-in rental car, check luggage, check-in, etc. | ||||||||||
